The ancient city of Badagry is set to witness pure grass-root soccer entertainment as the second edition of the Ile-Epo Araromi Challenge is billed to hold in March 2018.
The football competition set up to engage youths around Oko-Afo, Araromi, Mowo, Aradagun and communities around the Lagos-Badagry Expressway will hold at the Catholic Football Ground, Esepe Road.
In an exclusive chat with Cyber Reporters, chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Oluwashina Ebenezer disclosed that the turnout during the first edition was massive, adding that the second edition will be a different ball game.
“We had the first edition in December 2017 and people loved what we did. In fact, we had to heed the call of the fans who want this to happen at least twice a year. The second edition is about to commence which will climax during the Easter celebrations.
“Several teams are already bracing-up for the forthcoming edition and I know it will be a very tough and highly entertaining tournament.

Ebenezer, a graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri, also urged the Lagos state government, stakeholders and lovers of football in the community to key into this initiative as a means to engage youths as well as put smile on their faces.
“We hope the Lagos state government will support us going forward. We have met with a couple of elders around the community for support and we are sure it will be a massive one.
Second Ile-Epo Araromi Soccer Challenge will commence with 16 teams, with 4 teams in Group A to D in March. Interested teams are expected to call 08136761144 to request for their participation form.
Badagry is a coastal town and local government area in Lagos State, Nigeria. Recall that several football internationals including Olympic gold medalist Dosu Joseph is from the area.
