Nigerian afrobeat singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has surpassed the 41-year-old record held by famous musician King Sunny Ade as the Nigerian artist with the longest-running album in the annals of the US Billboard 200 chart.
Remember, 18 years before Rema’s birth, King Sunny Ade established the benchmark with his critically acclaimed album “Juju Music” in 1982.
Until recently, Rema’s debut album, “Rave & Roses,” which spent a 30th week on the chart this week, held the record for the longest-running Nigerian project in the history of the Billboard 200 chart.
Based on multiple metrics of consumption, the Billboard 200 chart lists the top albums of the week in the United States.
