Again, the President of the 10th Senate, Godswill Akpabio has goofed right in the floor of the house.
The Senate president while Addressing his colleagues before the adjournment motion was moved, made a very controversial statement.
In the course of the address, Akpabio said money has been sent by Magaji Tambuwal, clerk of the national assembly, to the senators to “enjoy” their holidays.
According to him:
In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the clerk of the national assembly,”
In a swift action to intervene, his colleagues quickly drew his attention to the fact that he was on live television.
And in a bid to control the damage, the senate president quickly took a step back when he said:
“I withdraw that statement,”
“In order to allow you to enjoy your holiday, the senate president has sent prayers to your mailboxes to assist you to go on a safe journey and return.”
This was contained in a viral video posted by thecable via Twitter.
While the full breakdown of salaries and allowances accrued to members of the National Assembly remains shrouded in secrecy, Akpabio recent statements has raised concerns as to the exact they are entitled to.
