The British Police is reportedly charging former Minister of Petroleum, Allison Madueke for bribery offenses.
Reuters.com reports that Mrs Allison may have accepted bribes running into thousands of pounds in exchange for awarding multi million pound contracts.
Alison-Madueke was Minister of Petroleum under the former President Good-luck Jonathan, led administration.
This was revealed in a statement by the Andy Kelly, head of the international crime unit in National Crime Agency, which read:
We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts,”
“These charges are a milestone in what has been a thorough and complex international investigation.”
The NCA alleges that Alison-Madueke have enjoyed illegal financial benefits Tsing the tune of 100,000 pounds, luxurious cars, paid Porsche holidays and sponsored private jet trips and many more.
Charges against her also detail financial rewards including furniture, renovation work and staff for the properties, payment of private school fees, and gifts from high-end designer shops such as Cartier jewellery and Louis Vuitton goods, the NCA said.
Allison Madueke has been greeted with financial scandals ever since her exit from office in 2015.
British police reports that she would be appearing before Westminster Magistrates court on the 2nd of October 2023.
