Public interest and human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has recommended up-and-coming musicians to hire and maintain legal counsel in order to succeed professionally.
According to Effiong, persons who work in the entertainment industry or any other industry without a lawyer are taking a significant risk that could result in irreparable damage.
On Thursday, he made this claim in a post on the verified social media site X.
The announcement follows the passing of Nigerian rapper and singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad. Mohbad was buried in the Ikorodu neighbourhood of Lagos State.
In recent development, there have been videos surfacing depicting the deceased’s distant relatives attempting to take the late singer’s assets from his wife, Omowunmi.
These videos are in addition to the debate surrounding the cause of the deceased’s death.
According him, the advice has saved lives.
He wrote: “As an upcoming artist, you should have and retain a lawyer as an integral part of your career.
If you’re into entertainment or any business for that matter, and you do not have a lawyer, you’re taking a huge risk that may cost you irreparable loss.
“This advice has saved lives.”
