Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has responded to his ailing colleague, Mr. Ibu, who appealed for public assistance, in doing so, he seized the moment to refute every accusation thrown at him and his colleagues.
Recall that Mr Ibu recently cried out for prayers following his battle with an unnamed illness, which may lead to the amputation of his legs.
Reno Omokri, a former media aide to the president, responded to the news by emphasising how Mr. Ibu had consistently supported Peter Obi and urging the LP flagbearer to step up and help with the actor’s medical costs.
On the other hand, actor Uche Maduagwu made serious accusations against his fellow actors, implying that they were to blame for Mr. Ibu’s condition and accusing them of using charms.
The renowned Tiktoker Verydarkman, meanwhile, accused Nollywood film industry professionals of ignoring the Comic Actor.
Regarding remarks made by Reno Omokri Uche Maduagwu, Verydarkman, and others, Kanayo advised them in a recent video not to pursue influence given Mr. Ibu’s illness.
Kanayo emphasised with great passion that his fellow actors deeply sympathise with their beloved colleague, Mr. Ibu. He pointed out that his family has been working tirelessly since word of his sickness broke last year, and that their recent decision to publicly ask for support is something he fully supports.
He asked rhetorically if the critics would have preferred to remain silent as Mr. Ibu’s health deteriorated.
The 61-year-old said in parts; “As actors, our heart goes out to our very dear colleague John Okafor, Mr Ibu. His family has been doing their best since it was reported last year he was sick and now they have come out to say we have done our best we need public support. It’s not in any sense wrong. Would you have felt bad or better if they kept quiet and allowed our colleague die? Onye ka ozuru? Now I condemned in strict terms Reno Omokri who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on.
“It is not a friendly thing, it is wicked and the other guy Uche Maduagwu and so who talked about top actors, shame on top actors, I say shame on you too. Shame on you because you don’t have any value and level to call our names, It is an individual thing to do to support a colleague. It becomes a collectable as Actors Guild of Nigeria who are doing their best within their limited time. Even those who have given can also be appreciated,”
