A faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly has just signed a notice of impeachment against the Governor, Sim Fubara.
Speaker of the house, Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule presided over the session that also removed the leader of the house, Hon. Ehie Edison.
This is coming after rumors of Assembly members loyal to former Governor, Nyesom Wike were said to have been plotting an impeachment against the Governor.
After the fire outbreak at the assembly complex last night, a good number of members convened in a part of the assembly today to proceed the signing of the impeachment notice against the governor.
Meanwhile, the entire Moscow Road leading to the Rivers State House of Assembly has been barricaded by armed policemen.
The major cause of the imminent rift between Fubara and his predecessor is undisclosed.
Fubara has also sacked all the Local Government Chairmen in the State, his Chief Security officer.
