The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared incumbent Governor, Senator Douye Diri as Governor as winner of the Bayelsa State Governorship elections.
Diri was declared by the returning officer of INEC, after scoring 175,196 votes which makes him the highest scoring contestant in the race.
his closest opponent, who is also the former Minister of State for Petroleum and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Timipre Sylva scored 110,108 votes.
This affirms Douye Diri’s second term bid as governor of the State, winning the elections with over 65,000 votes.
